Naomh ?g

Are you the Gob?n Saor, I said,
Says he, No I'm his boss,
I'm the Naomh ?g the Skibbereen fairy
From near Carbery and Ross.

I didn't think I'd meet him,
I'd been searching for a while,
And when he first was noticed
I was brainwashed by turmoil.
I ran in fear right up the stairs
And dived between the covers,
I prayed to all the angels
And my dear departed Mother.

But dream or no
He wouldn't go
He stood there looking smug,
And played with the gold tassels
At the corner of the rug.
Then suddenly he spoke to me
In some far-off ancient tongue,
That came down through the ages,
The vibrant Mushroom hum.

He said "You came a-hunting
In a field behind the house,
And you found me in some cowpat
And you took me by surprise,
So now I'm here to tell you
That since we've met, my friend,
I'll leave you with some good advice"
- he then began to sing

He sang of how in far off times
He drifted to the shore,
From comet-seed and mystic reed
He changed into a spore,
To spread the universal Truth -
The sanctity of all -
That ancestral generations
Have gradually left fall.

And of how he landed of the grass
To germinate and spawn,
And hope some soul would seek him out
So he could carry on
The fight to keep the Truth alive
Inside a conscious mind,
A kindred spirit to carry me
Through this Life
And far beyond.

He stopped and reached into a bag,
And then with quite a flourish
He produced the Cosmos in his palm,
Which was lined with the map of Time.
He then produced another, and another, and another
Til the room was filled with faeries and
I think I saw my Mother...

Dr Spore
Change is the only constant...
