Well, the season is all most over for them and your going to have to learn a bit more then how to spell "Psilocybe" before you go out hunting for them. Remember that there are poisonous mushrooms that share habitat with them.
I would first suggest getting a good book... Paul Stamets - "Psilocybin Mushroom of the World" would be great reading for what your hunting.
Also, all the info you could want about hunting your local area for them can be found by searching this board: www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/Forum3

Good look

Wise words Psynaut.. make sure you know what you're picking. An example is in the July edition of the ABFG journal- man and woman come across what they think is a field mushroom. The woman takes a bite the size of a large coin- the only problem was it wasn't a field mushroom, it was a Death Cap!! The woman survived- luckily.

Oh my, I've not heard about that.
Learning to identify aminitas to genus at least is important.
I recommend also, that you get to know some of the deadly species that resemble Psilocybes. Learn identify the common poisonous look-alikes before you consume anything.
Good luck and have fun.

Well I did suggest to the chairman of the ABFG that they put the article online, so others can read what happens when things go wrong. It certainly makes sobering reading.
