Well I am gonna attempt to fruit some oysters and enokitake for the first time.
My first grow failed.. but I decided to give it another shot.

here is a pic of how things look so far. Any ideas, suggestions are welcome. I'll update with some results as things progress.

EDIT: oh, btw the enokitake is on the left, oysters to the right.

Well I sort of went the "easy way". These two are kits. I plan on doing full blown grows once I get some more equipment, mainly a pressure cooker.
If I can get one soon enough, I want to create my own cultures from the fruit bodies of these kits.

My main problem is a place to set up . That has been my main focus .Where I am living it is too cramped to have anymore than a glovebox and some odds and ends.It just dosen't seem worth the trouble.I have some griffola frondosa spores ,I got from a wild specimen .That are begging for attention . But I am holding out for my building. Keep updating your project please .

I have the same problem Funguy, I can't really decide on where to set up. For now I am storing them down in the basement since its fairly damp and cool.
I want to give that toilet paper method a shot too!

I picked up one of those cheap plant stands to use as a fruiting chamber, maybe something like that can work for you.

There is a pot of water on the bottom shelf & paper towel for water to wick up & increase humidity. There still is some fine tuning to do.

do you have something to measure humidity ?Are you having to mist ?Are you having to fan for air exchange?Just curious . They look good.

That looks like a great setup there cultured1, sounds like a nice idea.. I have seen some similar green-house type containers that looked like they will do the job, they were pretty cheap also. I need to find a good area to set it all up so that I can get a nice steady production line of misc edibles going.

Ventilation is a bit of a problem, & I was spraying. I'm thinking about an aquarium bubbler & a 1 gallon jar of water. Temps were a bit high for shitake as well so second flush didn't happen, just ended up with Mr. green. Set-up has been put away since the summer, but I'm gearing up again, starting cultures.....

Well the oysters are almost ready to fruit, I think they are doing well.
I am a bit frustrated with the enokitake though, I cant decide whether to leave the lid ON or OFF. Since it is supposed to be sprayed with 10 sprays a day, I would think leaving the lid on would drown them??? What do you think? At first I was gonna leave it on and i noticed how wet it was getting in there so it is now open.

I am seeing some pins/aborts from the enokitake tube. I have left the lid off for now, but still sort of confused. The flushes arent supposed to take place for another week, so I guess the fact that these pins arent growing much and appear to be drying out arent much to be worried about.
The oyster patch is developing what look like big white clumps, I'll take a pic tonight and post it (i'm not at home at the moment). I have applied the humidity tent over them and have been spraying once in the morning and again before I go to bed. I am prety sure that the clumps are just primordia and not a contam since they are white.. I've also looked at some oyster cultivation pics and saw something similar. The primordia on mine is very large.. Anyways gonna get a pic later.

There is a link somebody posted regarding fruiting parameters for various fungi. I think when I set up my oysters I'm going to spawn straw to a 5 gallon pail, case with potting soil & after some time to colonize I'll drill holes in the side of the bucket.
My plant stand chamber might do for enokie, I'll be growing those in mason jars.
