Hi all,
I'm one of those people who like fungi, not just for picking and eating but also for learning more about Mycology in General. I will be obtaining a microscope in a while to aid identification even further.
How many of you also go beyond the culinary stage? Are any of you like me and want to learn more, is there any of you that like to cultivate fungi for whatever purpose. It will be interesting to hear any follow-ups.

Hi all and back at ya Mark!
Yep sure am interested in all fungi as we get a lot of funky stuff growing wild in Oz
There's even some mad luminescent shrooms that I'm keen to naturalise in our yard...imagine walking along a path illuminated by little tinker bells!!

Are they Jack o'lanterns?(Can't remember the latin name) I know they can glow a bit.

There are a couple known bioluminescent fungi. I think that one is a Hygrocybe, kind of a pale green color if I remember correctly. Much smaller than the JackoLantern

I know theres quite a few tropical fungi that have luminescent properties, but Jack O'lantern is the only one that comes readily to mind for me... might have to look some more up... certainly would look nice in a garden though.

since i was about 3 i have been out in the woods and have always loved fungi. always took pictures and enjoyed. only this year have i gotten interested in mushroom hunting and learning to ID them. i think it started when i found a Pseudohydnum gelatinosum, those are certainyl a sight. they look like solid smoke, or a ghost in mushroom form. magnificant. not into growing them myself, im all about enjoying them in the wild, and nabbing a few now and then.

Going out on forays is another good excuse to get out of the city. Hunting, cultivation & photography interest me as much as a good meal.

Well I like the walking to and getting me away for the hustle and bustle! I will soon hopefully have a microscope to take my interest even further!

Yes, I am into them because I love nature and biology. The mushrooms give me more reasons to be outdoors. I also like taking photos of them!

200MB I think thats a bit too much for the gallery lol but i'm sure there'll be space for some of it.

Well I don't want to take a bunch of space, so I'll just try to pick out a few. A lot of those pics arent of great quality because i took them on an older camera. Just updated to a 6x optical zoom camera that actually has macro functions.

I thought I'd revive this topic! I finally got my microscope a few weeks back and when I've had a bit of time on my hands. Its certainly interesting looking at the cystidia/spores etc. If anyone gets a chance to look through one a parts of a fungi- take it!

That's great! I can't wait to get my scope back, right now it is in my grandparents garage. It's a pretty high quality one 400x magnification or higher.. can't quite remember the exact, I've had it for a while but not had the chance to use it much. I look forward to using them more often.
