Doing a google query pulls up this link that gives a list of books and the poster's review of each book. I think it's best to have more than one book.

oops, sorry about that, it seems that my pic was deleted by the image provider from geocities or something.

Anyways, your book of choice depends on where you live, but if you are in the PNW, I would suggest Mushrooms Demystified as a starters guide. If you are in the north east I recommend The Mushrooms of North Eastern North America.

Peterson field guide is one that I have, it's pretty good although there are discrepencies in the latin names for some species compared to other guides. Maybe my edition is a bit out of date (1987), & naming has gotten more consistent.

Another resource for books is your local library's annual book sale. Yes, the books may not be the most current or in A1 condition, but you can't beat the price! Sometimes $2, $1, .50 cents, and it gives you a greater range of descriptions and photos. Don't overlook it.

Hey thanks for the library advice .I went there yesterday they had a bunch of books .None were of the mush or mycology happening .But the lady took my number and said she would call when they got to something that might interest me.So this is cool .Thanks your advice will eventually pay off.

Well, that was a nice little coinkydinky! It's a great way to recycle books and obtain all kinds of outdated reference books like Merck manuals and Dorlands for medical info. And that's great you got put on a calling list! See, our tax dollars working for us!
