Talking about pics- I've got quite a few to sift through for my webpage- I will post more here in the future.

Were are now starting to get consecutive nights below freezing so I'd say that its getting near the end of the mushroom season.

So now it's recalling past memorable forays.

For most of UK its been a crazy year where fungi is considered- lots of different types have been found this year and species normally considered rare have been found quite a few times. Hopefully 2005 will be the same.

I've heard that too about my area. The previous years have been so dry, but this year (despite being a low rain accum so far) the rain came at the right time and the humidity has remained high. Hopefully 2005 will not cycle back to dry again. :roll:
Happy Foraging!!

Come on folks, don't give up on the forum, so there are 120 shy people out of 137 members. Can't understand it myself but...

Now myself, I have a real dilemma here, to pray for a dry year for my gold panning hobby(low water is good water) or lots of rain at the right time in the fall for big time mushrooms. A perfect year for me would be a low snowpack with generous spring rain, a dry summer, and then large amounts of rain in the fall with wide temperature variations.

Some of the best Pine seasons I have ever seen have come after the first frost. That bloom, seemingly out of fungal desparation,seems to come after really dry summers. Plays misery on the Chanterelle though.

We have had a week or two of fair temperatures here in BC I am thinking about going out to see what's poppin'

How about a really dry summer and a wet Autumn- is that a good compromise??

Mark;

Not only a good compromise. But precisely what I would ask for, (and did). Now I quess that we just wait a couple of more weeks until Morel season to see if my ability to request has any weight with the Mushroom Gods.

Well the weather over has been on and off- a few days of sun, followed by a couple of days of lots of rain- perfect for the seeds of the vegetables I planted a few weeks ago!!

Lets see what the next couple of months has to offer.....
