My dog, May, has dug up three (so far) dirt-clod looking things and I am really wondering what they are. She digs them up with a lot of enthusiasm and it is near to impossible to keep her from eating them. The biggest of the things was the size of a golf ball. Here's the part that really throws me. If you break them open, the inside is wet, gooey and very sick-poo like. But they definitely have an outer skin. May is not otherwise a fan of poo, and these are not cat poos, I'm certain.
They were very shallow, maybe two inches underground at the most. Our yard has lots of fir trees and is covered in needles.
I live in Mt. Shasta at 3300 feet. My climate is temperate.
Aside from curiosity, it also seems like a good idea for me to get some kind of ID on these things since May eats them.
