Did you eat the hericium? I found some small specimens on the disc golf course this fall. These were a little larger than golf balls.I am a pain to others when I play because ,I find so many fungi on the course.I am really looking forward to the spring .We just built a new disc golf course in Appomattox Virginia .Alot of trees were taken down and just laid to the ground .This place had a lot of fungus before we touched it . I am sure with the added food (rotting trees) ,the mycorrhizal happening could be peaking if mother nature does her part.
I would rather have a bottle in front of me,
Than a frontal lobodomy

I did eat some of the hericium. It was pretty good too, I gently fried some up with butter and added vegtables. I would only eat the pure white specimens. I've heard reports that they develop a sour taste in age or as they discolor.

I had to take a pic when I was cooking it, just cause it looked so good.

Yea they do tend to lose some size, I only cooked a small portion of the hericium cluster though, there was a lot left over and eventually I had to toss it outside because I couldnt eat it all before it spoiled.
