I am interested in this notion of making lobster chips. I cannot imagine eating them raw (dried) but whatever works...

What did you season them with and how. Was it like a brine, soy, or teri-yaki? Let me know.

LOL i want a cannon.....but ya, when i go hiking in some places i use those reflective vests, if its a known hunting area. i usually pick mushrooms in non hunting type areas though.

well im far from a cook, really far. i jsut used some random seasoning salts dried (add water type thing) dressing stuff, liek chip dip or somthing.

i dont know i jsut wing everything i make and some taste good some not. but the mushroom itself had a texture i kinda liked, although kind of a pain to chew at first. id be interested to know where to buy chip flavours. liek ketchup, salt and vinegar, ranch etc...i think ranch would ge PERFECT with dried lobster slices! but i have no idea where to find such flavourings.

Ya......one thing I really hate mushroom hunting, is crossing animal hunters. It's good idea to be vocal while your hiking around, as you are usually heard before you are seen.
Kadakuda and I have a common hunting area we both pick. I have bumped into deer hunters on a number of occasions in that spot.
Thank god most are lazy and stick to the gravel road, so they don't have to get off there quads.

Ok, Kadakuda and Psynaut, I am certain now that you guys are running a training school for Pine sniffing dogs, y'all want to keep it hidden do you? LOL (Sorry but the Smileys give me the creeps, I will use the basic stuff ).

Seriously, do you think that dogs could be trained to find pine mushrooms, and if so, why haven't they been?

Kadakuda,

Now if you want ranch flavoured Lobster chips if I were you I would slice them fairly thin, not paper thin but about match stick thin, give them a good bath in lemon juice and salt and a touch of water. After an hour or so of that dip them in a mixture of powdered milk and powdered thyme, powdered marjoram, basil and oregano(mostly the milk). Sorry, don't put them into the spices wet, let them dry a bit, then throw them i the dryer.

Now, since eating raw (dried) lobbies hasn't killed YOU yet give that a shot, for you other folks out there---DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME---until you know how these mushrooms affect you personally. I have never tried this recipe personally and am only responding to a request from a person with some experience wanting to know how to go about making a ranch flavoured lobster mushroom chip. How to do it generally, I can do. But Would I Eat It?. Ah well Hell, if it tasted good. Thats what I can do---your Doctor can fix the rest---LOL, LOL.

Forget all f that complcated crap I put out last night, I swear sometimes late at night my fingers keep dancing long after I've sent my brain off to bed.

Slice the lobsters give them a light brining, let them dry a bit, then sprinkle them with dry Ranch dressing mix. Ketchup flavoured start with dry tomato soup mix spice it up to suit yourself. What with all of the different dressing mixes and soup powders, and instant chip dip seasonings out there you should be able to come close to almost any flavour you want. I think that will be as close as you can get to commercial flavourings like they put on chips. If you want to experiment for next season buy commercial agaricus (add some lemon juice to the water to keep them from turning brown). Away you go! I might even try it myself.
