Hi Carita,
This looks like you have found Boletes that have been infected with
Golden Hypomyces mold.
At this stage it is unlikely that anyone could determine the species of the bolete.

Thank you for all the help with this strange item. I checked the Mushroom Expert site and moved on to many others as a result of the identification of the Hypomyces chrysospermus. I came across several images that resembled the ones I found. Indeed a fungus on a fungus!

well look out for them next year and try to get to the bolettes before the parasite does...they're a nice heavy mushroom good for bulking up stews and such.here's a few pics of some I found
